- All volunteers, whether serving in the kitchen or other locations in the building, must be at least 16 years old.
- We are looking for a congregation, organization, or group that would like to provide and serve a meal once a month on the first Wednesday or third Wednesday of each month from 4pm to 6pm or on the second Wednesday of even months from 4 pm to 6 pm.
- For more information, please email Kathy at [email protected].
Congregations or Groups to serve a Hot Meal
Volunteer hours: Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30 pm - 3:45 pm, 3:45 pm - 6:00 pm, Saturdays 9:30 am -11:45 am, 11:45 am – 2:00 pm. Number of Volunteers needed: 3 - 4 people
If your congregation or group is interested in serving at the Day Resource Center, please contact our Operations Manager, Melinda Becker at [email protected].
• Keep in mind that the first shift is feeding about 50 - 70 people, who eat large servings of everything. The second shift generally serves half that number of people. On most days, that means the first group should bring at least 60 hearty servings while the second group should bring at least 35 servings. We have an odd day that is lighter, but we cannot predict when that will be. • Please bring the meals ready to serve, preferably in full size or half size steam table aluminum foil pans for serving from our steam table.
• 3-4 people are needed in the kitchen to set up and serve as well as to monitor the drinks table. One volunteer is also needed to operate our dish washer
Please provide with all meals
_ 300 Napkins
_Plastic Gloves, if you prefer
_2 gallons of milk - 2% or whole as well as other drinks like lemonade, iced tea, juices
_Salad dressing or any condiments that would compliment your meal-as needed. Please check with the Melinda, the Operations Manger, for current meal service supply list, [email protected]
_Butter or margarine
Items needed and appreciated, if you have extra budget money
_Paper towels
WE ASK THAT YOU NOT GIVE CARRY OUTS OF THE PREPARED MEALS. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE GUESTS FOIL, PLASTIC WRAP, GROCERY BAGS, OR ANYTHING THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO WRAP UP A PLATE TO TAKE OUT.

Shower and Laundry Monitors
Laundry
Guests sign up to do laundry on a first come, first served basis each day. Guests are allowed to do 1 load of laundry per day. Families with children are allowed 2 loads of laundry. Laundry monitors help guests by assigning washers/dryers, notifying guests when laundry is ready to move from machine to machine, notifying guests when it is their time to start their laundry. Laundry monitors also help at the end of the day with cleaning/straightening the laundry room.
Showers
Guests sign up to take a shower when they come in each day. The Shower monitors help guests obtain shower supplies (towel, wash cloth, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, razor, shave cream, deodorant, other toiletries). The monitors also help keep the shower lines moving and the shower areas cleaned up after each person. Monitors also help with the cleaning of the showers at the end of the day and preparing the used towels for our towel angels.
